Outdoor Fun & Play

Hi Buggy!  We did SO much together today!  Not only did you go to the Cubbie Hole first thing in the morning, but we also made up our own downhill ski game, made and colored binoculars to go looking for a lost neighborhood puppy, and made our own cat toy out of yarn and a spool to play with our outdoor kitty, Tiger.

By far your favorite game was the downhill ski game!  You played it for hours this afternoon!  We used a breakfast tray and a couple of dollars worth of pennies. And then we started rolling the pennies! Sometimes we said "Nice jump!", "perfect 10!", or "right down the middle!" which you loved, but you laughed so hard every time that I said, "crash!"  Our ski game was a BIG hit!

We did all of this in our outdoor tent that your daddy put up in our backyard for us

It is where we have been hanging out and playing games and reading books all month long!

The weather has been so beautiful...we are really spoiled here in California

So, we have been spending a lot of time in our little backyard tent!

This afternoon we found this flyer sitting on our front porch.  Your daddy and I thought it would be nice if we went looking for the little lost puppy with you. So, you made the cutest little pair of binoculars out of two toilet paper rolls, some markers and some tape. You colored the binoculars and tried them out. They worked!  So we took them out for a spin!  Before we left, we prayed together that God would help to keep the little lost puppy safe.

For the rest of the day we unwound some thread and tied a piece of rainbow colored yarn around it. You spent the entire evening on our front lawn playing with Tiger and trying to get her to play with the yarn.  More pictures to come!

All our love to you, always and forever,
Mommy & Daddy

Update: We ran into Zeppelin's daddy on one of our neighborhood walks.  We were SO happy to learn that Zeppelin was found, safe and sound!  He was missing for one week, was hungry, thirsty and tired.  He crossed town and made his way to Red Lobster, where somebody rescued him and took him to the Petco. They scanned his chip and he was returned home.  What a lucky little puppy!  You were so happy to play with him!  His daddy gave you Zeppelin's ball to bring home with you to play with Sydney. We are so happy that Zeppelin is home!

What are you grateful for?

This is the day that the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

Dear Buggy, It is one of our favorite family traditions to ask each other what we are grateful for each day. It brings us so much joy to hear all of the things that your sweet little four-year-old heart is thankful for.  It makes us so very happy that you are learning how to be grateful for your blessings. So, since you are not yet writing in a gratitude journal, we have decided to begin one for you here.  Here are a few of the things that you are grateful for...

Trains, cars and trucks
Sydney (our dog)
Daddy
Mommy
Grandma and Grandpa
My new garbage truck

WE are so very grateful for YOU!!!

All of our love to you, always and forever,
Mommy & Daddy xxxooo

Happy Halloween!

Dear Bugaboo, We had so much fun for Halloween this year!  Halloween is one of our favorite holidays because we all get dressed up together as a family. This year, Grandma and Grandpa came to visit and we all dressed up like the Choo-Choo Bob Show!  This is my favorite picture from the day. You and Grandpa look so happy and cute together!

It rained like cats and dogs at the pumpkin patch, but we didn't care because we all had so much fun together!  You, Nathaniel, were Choo-Choo Bob, Grandpa was Conductor Dave, Mommy was Engineer Emily, Daddy was Richard W. Kornbelt, and Grandma was Grandma Choo-Choo!  We went to the pumpkin patch and rode the train and ran through the corn maze and got all muddy!  But we smiled all day, laughed and had fun because we were building wonderful memories as a family!

Here we are before we left for the pumpkin patch!

Say, "Chugga-Chugga! Toot-Toot!"

All of us at the pumpkin patch together!

Choo-Choo Bob and Engineer Emily!

Riding the train!  Toot-toot!

You are getting to be such a big boy!

Even Sydney got in on the fun!

Cousin Kimberly came over for dinner and you both had fun trick or treating in our neighborhood!  Lee dressed up like a butterfly, and she gave you a butterfly net to catch her with. She "flew" from house to house and you ran after her with your butterfly net to catch her!  She even let you catch her a few times.  You were so happy to see each other!

My favorite Halloween picture of you ever!  You were sitting in the pumpkin bin at the grocery store! You were only 10 months old!

Visiting your very first pumpkin patch!  You were one year old!

A handsome knight, a beautiful princess and Danny the Dragon!

Happy Halloween, Buggy Bug-Bug!

Using Your Imagination

Dear Buggy-Bear, Today, I cleaned out the kitchen pantry and encouraged you to play with cans and boxes! You played for hours making different structures and became very creative, building towers and race tracks!

Mommy asked, "Nathaniel, what are you going to build with these cans and boxes?"

Nathaniel said, "I'm going to make a road here. And vroom! Up high!

Later on in the day Mommy asked again, "What are you going to build now?"

Nathaniel replied, "I'm going to build an ocean hole, like in the beach!  I'm going to build a BIG hole!"

You are so imaginative! I took lots of videos of you playing, but you weren't wearing any clothes, and I didn't want to interrupt your creativity to put them on. But you played all day with your little toy cars, and kept on building bigger and better "race tracks" for them!  I will be sure to post more pictures as soon as I have a chance to capture them from the videos.

All of our love to you always and forever,
Mommy & Daddy
